Student enrollment up at Augie and USF

SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) Augustana University this fall boasts its highest enrollment in 26 years.

"The energy on campus today is palpable," says Augie President Rob Oliver.

Augustana's enrollment grew 5 percent from last year to 1,937 students, the strongest number since 1990. Oliver says the swiftness at which the school has been able to execute objectives since changing from a college to a university has "absolutely influenced" enrollment.

Over at the University of Sioux Falls, enrollment this fall is up 3 percent from last fall to 1,530 students. That's the highest enrollment in seven years.

"We’re very pleased with our fall numbers,” says USF President Mark Benedetto. He says it's an exciting time on campus with many new changes, including construction of new student housing, which will eventually be connected to the school library - a first in South Dakota.
