SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO AM) – A state prison inmate from the State Penitentiary has died from suicide.
Inmate Nicholas Tchida was hospitalized Sept. 4 after being found hanging in his cell at the South Dakota State Penitentiary. He passed away Sept. 9.
Tchida, age 25, was serving an eight-year sentence with four years suspended for possession of a controlled substance and a concurrent eight-year sentence with four years suspended for distribution of a controlled substance out of Roberts County.
An autopsy is being conducted.
