Hunger Action Month begins

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) - As part of Hunger Action Month, Feeding South Dakota and Feeding America are inspiring people to raise awareness and inspire them to take action to help bring an end to hunger.

Jennifer Stensaas says one in eight South Dakotans struggle with hunger and one in every five children are caught in that struggle.

Stensaas says whether its volunteering, donating, holding food drives or helping to stack and clean local food pantries, there are many things you can do to help fight hunger.

September marks the ninth year the Feeding America network of food banks has organized this annual event to call for action and the ninth year Feeding South Dakota has partnered in the effort

Feeding South Dakota will have a tent with hunger awareness and children's activities at Downtown Sioux Falls' First Friday Block Party at 8th and Railroad tomorrow.

Visit any Sioux Falls HyVee in September and donate the price of either a half or whole gallon of milk.
