YANKTON, S.D. (KELO.com) – Construction continues on the Lewis and Clark Rural Water Pipeline, as does the battle for funding.

Executive Director Troy Larson says $98 million dollars in additional money has been set aside by the Senate for rural water projects across the United States.

Lewis and Clark is one of the projects competing for the money.

Larson is hoping for at least the same amount of money as last year to keep the project on track.  That amounted to $15 million.

He says if the project continues with at least the $15 million dollar amount, everyone could be connected within seven or eight years.

Lower funding could stretch the completion date to 2030.
