SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Teachers will use phonics to help elementary kids in Sioux Falls become better readers.
Its called the SIPPS program.
Assistant Superintendent Teresa Boysen briefed the school board this week.
Boysen says, "We're committed to finding innovative ways to improve literacy instruction, reduce that achieving gap and have our students reading at grade level by third grade."
They'll identify young readers below grade level and work with them in small groups.
