SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) – Sioux Falls Fire Rescue had a busy morning, fighting two apartment fires in the early morning hours.

The first fire was reported about 2:20 Sunday morning at 2912 South Louise Avenue.  A witness at the scene saw smoke coming from the roof and alerted residents.

The fire was put out in about 30 minutes.  The fire burned through the roof of one apartment and two others had smoke and water damage.  The displaced resident of the apartment is being assisted by the Red Cross.

The second fire was reported about 2:30 Sunday morning at 4312 West 58th Street.  There were no indications of a fire when crews arrived but found light smoke coming from the eves of the building.

The fire was under control in about 30 minutes.  The fire was confined to the attic and one apartment.  Residents were able to return to their apartments, except for one occupant on the second floor.

Sioux Falls Fire Rescue would like to remind all residents and visitors to have an evacuation plan and practice it regularly.
