SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- The National Weather Services says some of the smoke from California and Western wildfires may move into eastern South Dakota, southwest Minnesota, northwest Iowa, and northeast Nebraska tomorrow.
They say the smoke would be high in the atmosphere.
But will it be thick enough to decrease projected high temperatures?
The service says maybe.
"If the smoke aloft is thick enough, definitely," NWS Sioux Falls tweets. "The challenge is trying to determine how much smoke will survive from the mountains of the west coast to the plains of South Dakota, about 1,000-1,500 miles."
The weather service says because of the smoke, "there's a good chance it won't get quite as hot as possible."
