SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- The 43-year-old Sioux Falls man found to have a sizable amount of bomb-making materials in his home last month has now been connected in an attempt to destroy a gas station with a homemade explosive device, according to court documents.
Mark Christopher Einerwold, has been identified as the suspect who placed an explosive device under a gas meter at the West 12th Street Get 'n Go earlier in July, according to court documents filed last week on new charges.
Einerwold is being charged with possession of an explosive device with intent to destroy property, first-degree arson and placing an explosive device.
He was arrested July 17 on several charges after a search warrant was issued on his home and vehicle.
A search warrant from the Minnehaha County Sheriff's Office was already open on Einerwold's vehicle on an investigation into burglary charges in the Dell Rapids and Tea.
Authorities on July 18 announced they had found a pistol, a sawed-off shotgun and a silencer in a backpack which was believed to be the same used in several burglaries in or near Einerwold's residence.
Ammonium nitrate and aluminum powder were also found.
Prosecutors in court also said authorities found a "manifesto" document that included threats toward law enforcement and the government.
Einerwold is scheduled to appear in court later this week.
