SIOUX FALL, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Sioux Falls Fire Rescue, Sioux Falls Police and Mid American Energy are responding to and clearing numerous calls for natural gas smells.
These calls are related to excavation and hauling of soils contaminated with mercaptan odorant at the Mid American facility on South Blauvelt Avenue. The City says there is no danger to the public from the mercaptan odorant. Mercaptan odorant is an additive used to help detect the smell of natural gas.
The excavation is expected to be complete early this afternoon.
