SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- The problem of unlocked cars in Sioux Falls with guns inside isn't going away.

Police Spokesman Sam Clemens says guns were stolen from two unlocked vehicles over the weekend.

"Both of these instances were outside homes. Who knows where these guns are going to end up?" Clemens says just recently a man threatened another man with a gun that had been stolen from an unlocked car in Sioux Falls.

"Thankfully, nobody was harmed with that gun. But we've seen them used in robberies, We've seen them used in aggravated assaults."

There have been so many guns stolen from so many unlocked vehicles in Sioux Falls that one city councilor had talked about, maybe, the city should fine people who insist upon keeping their doors unlocked.

Clemens says keeping your gun hidden in the glove compartment isn't enough - you must lock the doors, and double check by wriggling the handle.
