SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) - More wet weather is on the way later Saturday afternoon into Sunday morning.
The National Weather Service says a Flash Flood Watch remains in effect for parts of the area this afternoon into Sunday morning. Parts of Northwest Iowa, southwest Minnesota and southeast South Dakota are in the watch. The immediate Sioux Falls area is not in the watch.
Thunderstorms are expected to develop late this afternoon and continue intermittently through much of the night. A severe storm is possible, especially south and east of Sioux Falls.
Repetitive storms are expected to result in widespread 1 to 3-inch rainfall amounts, with locally higher amounts possible.
With soils already near saturation, and rivers still near or above flood stage, heavy rains will lead to an increased threat of flash flooding.
If you see water over the road, do not attempt to go through it. The water may be deeper than you think.
Turn around, don’t drown!
