SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- After about six hours of deliberation, a Sioux Falls jury found Stephanie Hubers not guilty of felony theft charges.
In the four-day trial, the state sought to prove that Huber's acceptance of $10,000 extra dollars a year from the American Indian Institue for Innovation constituted theft since she wasn't employed there and misrepresented work she did to receive the money.
Hubers was acquitted on multiple Class 4 felony charges: one count of grand theft, two counts of grand theft by deception or three alternative counts of receiving stolen property.
