SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Who talks the most during the public input period at City Council meetings?
KELO.com News has obtained a study prepared by the City Clerk's Office that notes who spoke when and how often in the public input portion of the meeting from June 13, 2017 to June 12, 2018.
During this year-long period, there were 37 meetings where the public shared their input. A total of 109 speakers spoke 272 times to the Council during the public input period, according to the Clerk's compilation.
Sioux Falls blogger Scott Ehrisman addressed the Council 26 times last year, the most of any citizen. Erstwhile mayoral candidate David Zokaities addressed the Council 23 times. Community activist Sierra Broussard addressed the Council 20 times. Citizen Steven Siano addressed the Council 19 times. Citizen activist Bruce Danielson spoke 17 times. Citizen activist Tim Stanga spoke to the Council 14 times during public input time.
Eighty-two citizens spoke once during the year during public input to the Council. Fifteen citizens spoke two or three times during the year to the Council during public input.
Some current or former candidates spoke to the Council during input: City Council candidates Thor Bardon, Zach DeBoer, and Nick Weiland; Mayoral candidates Mike Gunn and Jolene Loetscher; and school board candidate Peter Pischke.
