SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- More than 160 ballots from the recent election were misplaced in Minnehaha County and initially uncounted.
County Auditor Bob Litz says the problem started when these ballots were mistakenly put in the wrong part of a ballot box itself. When the numbers didn't add up, they went back and found them in the sealed ballot box. They've since been added to the official count and did not impact election results.
Litz tells Kelo.com News that his election workers will double down in the future to try to keep something like this from happening again.
"We're going to throw some more horse power on it and that should take care of it, but, you know, about the time a guy thinks that, why then, there's this guy named Murphy that works down where you work too."
But the bottom line: Litz says everybody's vote got counted in time for the official state canvas of election results.
