SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Sioux Falls City Councilor Marshall Selberg wants to move public input from near the beginning of council meetings to near the end.
One of the main reasons, he says, is the raucous behavior at public input recently.
"We've had everything from outbursts to cackling to...we've got swear words and F-bombs." Selberg explains that it's not exactly "family friendly" for children or people getting awards in the early hours of the council session.
Selberg says the other big reason for changing the time is that some people come to the meetings to present on certain specific topics and this way they won't have to wait as long.
But Councilor Theresa Stehly is very much opposed to moving public input.
"Its a direct affront to the citizen's right to be heard" Stehly says it's wrong to make average people wait for over two hours before they can have their voices heard.
Selberg's ordinance gets its first consideration at next Tuesday's Council meeting.
