SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Sexual assault in South Dakota occurs 1.5 times more often than the national average, according to FBI statistics (US: 40.4 rapes per 100,000 people; SD: 58.8 rapes per 100,000 people).
The Compass Center is hosting a free forum on Thursday, May 17 at the Museum of Visual Materials.
A panel of experts from the Compass Center, Sioux Falls Police Department's CAP section, Avera McKennan, and Sanford Health will describe their role in the community and answer participants questions.
Sioux Falls citizens are invited to bring ideas that can make positive changes and stop sexual violence within the community.
