SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) You better start training now for the Sioux Falls Firefighters 2nd annual Step Up for Heroes Memorial Stair Climb at Howard Wood Field September 17.
You climb the equivalent of the 110 stories of the World Trade Center on 9/11 by climbing the stands at Howard Wood up and down 11 times.
Firefighters Association President Michael Gramlick says the story he always likes to tell from last year is the man in his 70s with a double knee replacement..
"He made his rehab goal to complete our event", says Gramlick, "He really crushed our course."
Gramlick says 100 percent of the $35 dollar entry will go to help local firefighters help people in need - the people they meet everyday on the job.
GreatLIFE Malaska Golf & Fitness is teaming with the firefighters to make this all happen. Gramlick says they're adding a challenge course to this year's event - an obstacle course with all the bells and whistles.
