SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Mayoral candidate Jolene Loetscher has released the full audio of Paul TenHaken.
The audio is above.
Loetscher released the following statement this afternoon:
At a meeting with law enforcement this morning, my husband and I were updated on the investigation regarding potential hacking of our campaign and personal accounts. Thankfully investigators have been able to identify no concerns in connection to one of our bank accounts, which my family and I were relieved to hear. We were told court orders have been issued to provide law enforcement with the necessary information to continue their investigation of our many remaining affected accounts. We understand this will be a long process and thank law enforcement for their diligent work and all those who have cooperated with the investigation.
Over the last three days there has been much conversation about a voicemail I received from Paul Ten Haken, a portion of which he discussed during our candidate forum on Monday. Following my conversation with law enforcement this morning, they agreed we can now release the voicemail in its entirety. We have built this campaign around trust and integrity, honoring the work of law enforcement is part of that and what we’ve done in waiting to release the entire voicemail until today.
As has already been reported in the voicemail left my Paul Ten Haken, he refers to tools in his toolbox that he could use against me. Through Paul’s own admission at Monday’s candidate forum, what he meant by that comment was he had dirt on all of the mayoral candidates, not just me -- which validated every concern I had. Dirty campaign tactics. Digging up dirt on all of the candidates. Ten Haken has stated he had dirt on all of the candidates, but I cannot commend him for acquiring that information, bragging about it and then not choosing to use it. This is exactly why I considered the March 22 voicemail a threat, and Ten Haken confirmed it in public on Monday.
No candidate for local office should have to worry about another candidate’s public boasts about the dirt they have and but deciding to not use it. I’m proud our campaign never went down that road and strongly believe that’s the judgment our next mayor needs to show.
TenHaken says he's glad the message has been made public because it will show the friendly context of what he was trying to say to Loetscher.
