SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Some frustrated Sioux Falls City Councilors see it as a new example of a lack of transparency in city government.

They're urging the release of the 2016 Falls Park Safety Report in the aftermath of the drowning death at the falls.

"It's another, unfortunately, disappointing episode. I'd like to say I'm surprised but I'm really not." says Councilor Greg Neitzert in the midst of the hue and cry over making the report public.

Councilor Theresa Stehly has prepared a resolution, which she hopes won't have to be used, to put on more pressure for the release of the report. She believes the secrecy fits a pattern with the Huether Administration.

"..Confidential settlements. We are not able to know what policies are happening. We are not told about proposals...."

City officials say they are urging the organization that produced the safety audit to release it, adding that the city was never given a copy, that results were conveyed only in a general way.

The risk management information was compiled by the South Dakota Public Assurance Alliance.
