SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- The latest employment numbers from the State of South Dakota look good for the state and metro.
Unemployment in the state remains steady at 3.4 percent, unchanged from January.
The national unemployment rate is 4.1 percent.
The Sioux Falls metro area has an unemployment rate of 2.9 percent. The Rapid City metro area had a 3.5 percent unemployment rate.
Over 146-thousand people are working in the metro area, which is over a one percent increase from January.
Government is the single biggest employer in the state with 80,000 employees. That's followed by educational and health services at 72,500 and retail trade at 52,600.
