SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Lincoln County has the second best health outcomes in the state of South Dakota according to a new study.
Minnehaha County ranked 23rd.
Grant County in northeast South Dakota ranked first.
Oglala Lakota County in southwest South Dakota ranked last, in 60th place.
The rankings indicate how long people live and and how healthy they feel.
On of the rankings the study looked at was health insurance coverage. Here are the study's findings on that topic:
- The uninsured rate in South Dakota is 12% compared to the U.S. rate of 11%.
- Uninsured rates among South Dakota counties range from 6% to 22%.
- Uninsured rates among racial/ethnic groups in South Dakota range from 9% to 29%.
The study was conducted by the University of Wisconsin-Madison and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
