BROOKINGS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- South Dakota State University Football Coach John Stiegelmeier was arrested for drunken driving in late January.
Stiegelmeier tells the Brookings Register that he had not eaten all day and had some wine before driving without thinking about how much he had to drink. The police officer says he found the coach's vehicle in a ditch.
The newspaper published a written statement from the coach about his DWI arrest.
“First and foremost, I made a terrible mistake. The decision I made is not who I have been, who I am or who I will be moving forward.
