SIOUX FALLS,SD (KELO-AM) A wide range of severe storm damage across South Dakota, Southwest Minnesota and Northwest Iowa on Saturday night has residents cleaning up.
Tornados were on the ground in Clark County, while straight-line winds took a toll in neighboring Hamlin County.
Major damage in Hamlin County was reported, with five or more camper units flipped, cabins damaged and boats and docks overturned at Lake Poinsett. Hamlin County Sheriff Chad Schlotterback says community and contractor crews are hard at work around the lake, removing debris, fixing damage. A woman was transported to a Watertown hospital for minor injuries sustained in the storm, and a man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries resulting when the storm hit the camp site.
In Lincoln County, Emergency Manager Harold Timmerman says damage was reported in Tea and Canton. Several Tea business buildings sustaining damage from strong winds. A larger amount of damage was apparent in Canton, where crews were restoring utilities, clearing blocked roads and hauling debris to a drop off site. No injuries have been reported in either communities as of Sunday afternoon.
Sioux Falls city crews responded to reports of trees down in the central part of town, with several reports of tree damage to roofs and vehicles.
Warmer, more humid weather is set to be the trend throughout the week, with temperatures reaching the mid-90s, and heat index values to 100 plus mid to late week.
