WASHINGTON – (KELO.com) – The frustration levels regarding the potential government shutdown this weekend has South Dakota Senator Mike Rounds more than frustrated.
He held a teleconference town hall Wednesday night, taking calls and questions from people across the state. When one caller asked about the possible government shutdown, Rounds was irritated at the entire process.
“For the fourth time in as many months, we’re being asked here in Congress to vote on another short-term, continuing resolution to keep the government open, this time until February 16,” Rounds said. “This is just no way to run a government. Heck, if we did this at the state level in Pierre, South Dakota, you’d run us out of the state capitol. That’s the bottom line.”
Rounds says the continuing resolutions, or CR’s, are preventing Congress from making good, informed policy decisions.
“We need to make sure the government is being responsible with your tax dollars,” Rounds told a caller.
