SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- The City of Sioux Falls has announced '80 in 18', a challenge to visit all 80 city parks in one year.

"There are so many jewels in our park system, and we want our residents and visitors to explore each one in 2018, not just the ones in their neighborhoods,” says City Parks Chief Don Kearney, declaring 2018 the Year of the Park.

80 won't be easy.

"I would say it would be a high mark to do all 80 of them, but that's one way to create getting people to the parks," says Sioux Falls resident Jerry Foy. He and his family use the parks a lot, for biking, kayaking, and watching baseball games.

Foy says the new city initiative has already taught him something.

"I didn't realize we had so many parks. To me, that's phenomenal."
