(Editor's note: The following is news analysis about the latest dogleg on the new concessionaire to run the City's three golf courses from It's Your Business' Bill Zortman and the apparent dissolution of the agreement for Dakota Golf Management to assist winning bidder Landscapes, Unlimited.)
The Sioux Falls City Council --- facing another challenging chapter with the golf course arrangements meets Tuesday to discuss the matter.
The last fews hours have seen Tom Jansa group – which has managed the Dakota Golf properties – say they have dropped out of the agreement.
It was seven or eight years ago or so, Zortman recollects – that the City looking to improve the golf scenario in Sioux Falls agreed to someone other than Jansa.
When there wasn’t an agreement ---the Jansa group got it back.
Today – many of those loyal to Jansa – planned met at Prairie Green – upset with the City and Mayor Mike Huether for putting the City golf courses fortunes in peril.
In the meantime---Tom Walsh ---the Great Life guru who had agreed to make it a turn-key operation – is in essence waiting quietly in the wings --- but obviously very interested in whether the city will allow the contracts offered by the groups to be shared with City Council and the public.
Great Life was willing to do a “turn-key” operation roughly $1.5 to $2 million to get it up and running. That would have included seven or nine fairway mowers, golf carts, computers, tools and equipment.
Stay tuned!
