The 'Me Too' movement hits home in Sioux Falls

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- It was a special It's Your Business Show Friday morning on KELO Radio, with Bill Zortman sharing the 'Me Too' stories of Sioux Falls women in the workplace.

The several women wished to remain anonymous so were not actually on the show. Instead, Zortman passed on their stories to prove that what is happening nationally from Hollywood to Capitol Hill is also happening in South Dakota.

"The boss she worked with grabbed her personal parts. And she also complains now about somebody that is a vendor working with her who always insists on a hug."

Zortman shared another woman's story about being sexually harassed but also being afraid of telling anyone about it, and she told Bill that that's sad.

Also on the special show was Sandra Hoglund Hanson, an employment and litigation attorney in Sioux Falls, who talked about the need for local businesses to have strong policies in place.

"Have your policy laid out in easy to follow steps. If you have that, the next thing to do is to train people on what the policy is."

Hoglund told Zortman's listeners that sexual harassment has to stop.

"People shouldn't have to suffer in silence just to do their jobs."
