SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Sioux Falls Lutheran School gets an unexpected Christmas gift from Sanford Health.
Sanford is donating 30 acres for a brand new school and $5 million in matching funds.
"When we first heard it, we just couldn't believe it was real. You think you are in a dream and then you wake up and there it is. It is for real." says Lutheran School Administrator Tia Esser
Since Sanford is giving the organization a choice of acreage, Esser can't yet say where the new school will be built.
Sanford Health grew out of Sioux Valley Hospital.
"This gift looks back to the heritage of Sioux Valley Hospital’s roots as a Lutheran hospital and forward to Sanford Health’s priority of supporting children and families in this community,” says Sanford President and CEO Kelby Krabbenhoft .
Esser says they were hoping to raise money for 20 acres, maybe 25 acres, at the most, so to be given 30 acres, is really something.
"Not only a miraculous gift, but an unimagineable one."
