SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- The same Sioux Falls house getting hit twice by a car coming off a nearby curve has prompted the police to talk about how they handle the curve in question.
Chief Matt Burns says his officers handle the 2nd and Leadale area as a special complaint zone.
"Just two days prior to this accident, we had an officer working that area who issued a citation for speeding, so we have given the area quite a bit of attention in the past and will continue to do so."
This week, a car lost it on the curve and crashed into the house, seriously injuring the driver. Less than three years ago, the very same house was hit by a car that came off the very same curve.
Right after the first house hit, the speed limit was lowered on the curve, and extra signage installed. As a result of this second hit, the city may install more lighting.
But Chief Burns says it really comes down to the fact that if you obey the speed limit, the curve will be no problem.
"For the vast majority of vehicle traffic transiting that area, they do so safely and they do so in control."
