Mars and Venus in South Dakota on tax reform

UNDATED (KELO.com) -- It's like Kristi Noem and the South Dakota Democratic Party are talking about a completely different tax reform bill passed by the House on Thursday.

Noem is singing its family friendly praises.

"The policies and ideas in this bill are going to work for families, increase wages for folks and create more opportunity in America."

But the State Democratic Party says the bill is a "bad deal" for millions of working families.

And Noem and the Democrats are on Mars and Venus when it comes to what the bill will do for young South Dakotans.

"If we are going to keep kids in South Dakota, we need to create opportunities in South Dakota and this tax reform package lets hard-working job creators do that better," says Noem. But the State Democrats claim college students in South Dakota will be hurt because student loans will be more expensive.

And then there are times when Republicans and Republicans don't see eye-to-eye. One of Noem's signature issues, repeal of the death tax, is included in the House bill, but the U.S. Senate version does not include it.
