SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- A Sioux Falls man will spend 30 years in federal prison and pay over one thousand dollars in fines for a 2016 kidnapping incident.

Jon Henri Bryant received his sentence on Tuesday. The incident stems from a domestic assault that took place in the victims home. Court documents say the woman was confronted by Bryant when she returned to her home, he then punched her and hid her in the trunk of a car. The victim was able to maintain cell phone contact with authorities while in the trunk, which allowed them to track the vehicle.

Bryant later took the victim out of the trunk and turned her phone off. The vehicle was later found near Garretson. When officers approached the man he took off into a field, driving erratically. When the vehicle stopped Bryant was observed once again assaulting the victim.

During the sentencing hearing, the Court found that Bryant’s kidnapping would also be deemed as an attempted murder.

Bryant was immediately turned over to the US Marshals to begin serving his sentence.
