WASHINGTON, D.C. (KELO.com) -- Both John Thune and Mike Rounds support the elimination of the Obamacare individual mandate that has been made part of the U.S. tax reform plan.
Senator Thune (R) tells Fox News that the mandate is an unpopular tax on people who don't want to buy health insurance.
"Forced to buy something and if they don't buy it, they pay a fine, they pay a penalty, so it's a punishing tax."
Thune claims that even one of the "architects" of Obamacare, Jonathan Gruber, admits that the mandate has failed..
Senator Rounds (R) tweets that the mandate is an unpopular tax from an "unpopular, unworkable" law, and he's glad its elimination has been added to the tax reform package.
