SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Radio listeners in Sioux Falls are hearing a new signal at FM 105.1.
Heritage radio station KELO AM 1320 is now simulcasting on its recently licensed FM translator, K286CN. The translator is located at FM 105.1.
KELO Brand Manager Greg Belfrage says the addition of the FM 105.1 translator will greatly benefit their Sioux Falls listeners.
"Our listeners responded very favorably when KELO began simulcating on FM 107.9 several years ago, but the signal doesn't cover all of Sioux Falls," Belfrage says. "The new FM 105.1 translator guarantees our Sioux Falls listeners get the quality FM listening experience they expect from us in their homes, offices and cars like never before."
KELO AM has been broadcasting local and national news/talk programming since August 2000, including America's highest rated radio talk show, The Rush Limbaugh Program.
The station greatly expanded its coverage area in 2013 when it began simulcasting on FM 107.9 in Flandreau. Belfrage says there are no immediate plans to make changes on FM 107.9.
"KELO's listeners in the Brookings and Flandreau areas will be able to enjoy our great talk programs on FM 107.9, just as they have been," Belfrage says. "However, listeners in the Sioux Falls metro are going to receive a much better signal at FM 105.1."
Operations Manager Tom Mitchell says the FM 105.1 translator is just one more way for listeners to hear KELO's programming.
"We're excited to be able to offer KELO NewsTalk on FM at 105.1, along with 107.9 FM, 1320 AM and kelo.com. It means a clear and crisp FM listening experience for KELO fans in the Sioux Falls metro area 24-hours a day. From Belfrage, to Limbaugh, Hannity and Levin - you'll always be able to hear them on FM at 105.1," Mitchell says.
The addition of FM 105.1 comes at a time when KELO is observing a milestone.
"This year KELO is celebrating 80 years of broadcasting at AM 1320. The addition of the FM 105.1 translator is an incredible way to honor our long history of proud service to the community," Belfrage says.
