SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Young business owners in Sioux Falls are not at all surprised that Forbes has ranked the city the best small city in the country for business and careers in 2017.
"I agreed 110 percent with the ranking. It's really nice when Forbes does rank us as such, to be able to share those things, not just with our own local community, but with those across the country." says Addie Graham-Kramer, President of the Event Company, based in Sioux Falls.
Graham-Kramer says that since her company was started about four years ago, it has grown and flourished because of the Sioux Falls community. Whether financial, or just being there on the sidelines, she feels there is tremendous support for business, especially small business, in South Dakota's largest city. The Events Company plans fundraisers and other events for other companies all over the country.
Graham-Kramer's take on the Forbes top ranking gets a big amen from John Meyer. Meyer heads Lemonly, an infographic design company based in Sioux Falls.
"In classic kind of South Dakota, Midwest humility, I say 'thats cool' and then you put your head down and go back to work." Meyer says Sioux Falls is great for mentoring, friendship and has been just so supportive of his business.
He says the national ranking is great for workforce development, encouraging professionals in other states to consider Sioux Falls.
"If we can get you here, get you to visit - maybe not in January - but if we can get you to come, and go out to the great restaurants, see the entertainment and meet the people, maybe we have a great chance of getting you to come here."
