SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Sioux Falls Health Director Jill Franken is looking forward to how President Trumps National Opioid Emergency declaration will help the local fight.

Perhaps the city will be able to come alongside a national awareness campaign.

"Resources that we can use locally to help with that, and to put our local flavor, if you will, and make that a real local issue."

Franken also says that Sioux Falls will be able to learn what works in the opioid fight from other cities where the epidemic is more severe.

"How these other states, and communities that have been facing an even greater issue in these past few years, what are they going to be doing now."

Thankfully the Opioid epidemic in Sioux Falls isn't as bad as it is in other parts of the country. Franken points out that Opioids are not the only challenge in Sioux Falls - there's the ongoing fight against  Meth and even against binge drinking.
