Jackley officially enters governor race

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Saying he's been throroughly tests as a U.S. Attorney and South Dakota Attorney General, Marty Jackley officially announced he's a candidate for the Republican nomination for governor.

His first stop on his announcement tour was KELO-AM's The Greg Belfrage Show.

Jackley will be traveling the state today and tomorrow holding announcement events.

He said as an electrical engineering graduate from the S.D. School of Mines, he says he wants to foster technology and growth, particularly in the agricultural sector.

The two term attorney general said he's protected people as AG and now he wants help help their futures.

Other Republicans indicating they are running for governor are U.S. Rep. Kristi Noem, former state Rep. Lora Hubbel, and Terry LaFleur, who is semi-retired. Banker and rancher Billie Sutton is on only Democrat who has declared. The primary election will be in June 2018 and the general election in November 2018.
