SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) -- Was it a million dollars or not?
TheArgus Leader reports this evening that the just revealed Premier Center siding settlement did not net the City of Sioux Falls one million dollars.
In a September 2015 news conference announcing there was a settlement over the bent siding, Mayor Mike Huether said, acoording to the Argus, that "the contribution to the settlement is in the amount of $1 million.”
The Argus reports that the amount the City netted was substantially less.
KELO.com News has requested clarification and additional information from both Mayor Huether and Assistant City Attorney Karen Leonard about the amount of money the City of Sioux Falls received and about other issues with the agreement.
Leonard preliminarily replied this evening via email to KELO.com News.
"The information you are seeking will take some time to research and I hope to respond to you early next week," Leonard wrote.
As of 7 p.m. tonight, Huether had not replied to KELO.com's request for additional information. Huether is scheduled to appear at 8 a.m. Tuesday for his monthly appearance on The Greg Belfrage Show on KELO-AM and KELQ-FM.
KELO.com News also spoke off the record for background with several city leaders. They expressed dismay over the situation and had a number of questions as well about the disposition of the settlement funds. They said they hoped to get answers at Tuesday's city council meeting.
