READ: Denny Deal made public

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) The City of Sioux Falls on Friday released to the public the secret Denny Deal, as ordered by the State Supreme Court.

Two years ago, the City received $1 million from the contractors for the bulging panels on the outside of the Denny Sanford Premier Center. Both sides agreed to keep the details confidential, but the Argus Leader sued, and the state's highest court this week ruled in the media organization's favor.

KELO.com News Director Todd Epp, who has a legal background, has read the agreement and does have some questions about its structure. For example, about the handler of the $1 million fund being located in Ohio, and yet apparently not being paid.

"I don't know if they were involved in the litigation or not, if they represented one of the parties, and that would make some sense. If they are not involved in the litigation, I don't understand why they would be handling that much money and not be receiving any money."

Epp has written a list of ten questions about the agreement to Deputy City Attorney Karen Leonard.

A copy of the once-secret Events Center Settlement Agreement is attached to this story.
