SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO.com) Country Superstar Couple Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood came to Sioux Falls Friday to open an unprecedented run of nine sold-out concerts.
Garth says he could have done more concerts.
"A lot of people think an entertainer will come into town with a full tank of gas and then as you go through the shows the thing drops. An entertainer comes into town on empty and it's getting out in front of that crowd that starts to fill that tank up."
The Nashville power couple held a news conference at the Sanford Premier Center, which will be packed this weekend and next with concert fans. Garth was laid back in baseball cap and jeans. No cowboy hat for the news conference.
A total of 100,000 people are expected for the series of concerts, many visitors to Sioux Falls, spending money in the local economy. The impact could be over $12 million.
This is Garth Brooks first appearance in Sioux Falls in some 20 years.
