SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO AM) Cloudy, rainy weather made Eclipse Day in Sioux Falls a bust.
"The chances of seeing the eclipse here in Sioux Falls are pretty slim to none. We are going to have a lot of cloud cover around the area so it's not looking good for eclipse watchers." That's the official word from National Weather Service Forecaster, Todd Hietkamp, so blame him if you want to.
Instead of a once-in-a-lifetime experience, the area enjoyed what it often gets this time of year: severe thunderstorm warnings, brief heavy rain, thunder, and potential hail. Somewhere up there the moon was covering the sun, but Sioux Falls couldn't see it.
There were Eclipse watching events scheduled across the city, making for a lot of disappointed people.
The clouds didn't keep the crowd from having a good time at the party at Vance Thompson Vision in Sioux Falls.
