SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO-AM) The City of Sioux Falls is providing an $841,000 loan for a new low-income housing project.
Groundbreaking is scheduled Tuesday for $1.2 million Pettigrew Manor in the Pettigrew Heights neighborhood. The new development will provide eight affordable housing units. Occupancy is expected in late spring of 2017.
In late 2013, the City began making loan funding available to support large affordable housing projects. The City has now provided loans to three projects, which will total more than $25 million in private investment and build a total of 178 units of affordable and workforce housing.
The two-story Pettigrew Manor will be located at East Tenth Street and South Summit Avenue and will have eight one-bedroom units, including two fully ADA-equipped ground floor units.
The building design is similar to a colonial “row house,” which will both complement and blend into the unique character of the neighborhood. The design will feature green space and a common patio area equipped with a grill and picnic tables.
Other partners include South Dakota Housing Development Authority, First Congregational Church, and MetaBank.
This is the second affordable housing project announced this spring. In April, the City announced Chasing Willows II in southeast Sioux Falls, a partnership with Costello Companies that will offer 40 affordable housing units and will also be available next year.
