Despite the allegations of Russian assistance to the Trump campaign and the current stalemate on the health care reform bill, Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) says Congress is getting things done.
"We compartmentalize," he told The Greg Belfrage Show this morning.
For example, Rounds says his Armed Services Committee just unanimously passed out a defense authorization bill. He says there is bi-partisanship on Dodd-Frank changes. He also said there a number of items that go through on the consent calendar.
Judges are also getting confirmed.
On health care, he reiterated that simple repeal of Obamacare will leave many Americans without coverage or high rates without a chance for the insurance industry to get tooled up again.
He says his office gets the most calls on keeping pre-existing coverage and Medicaid.
He says the goal is not to hurt people with health care changes but to make the programs sustainable in the future.
