Sioux Falls, S.D. (KELO AM) - It was an expensive night in Downtown Sioux Falls to say the least.
Chevrolet Corvettes from every era lined Phillips Avenue and adjoining side streets for the annual Hot Summer Nights event, bringing Vette owners from far and wide to show off their pride and joy.
Cars from as far away as Wyoming could be seen on the streets, both from individuals and clubs. One group of Minneapolis came to town in a 12 car caravan
For many of the owners participating in Wednesday's show was a good way to get out and enjoy a night downtown, and connect with others who have fulfilled their dream of owning the classic American sports car. Still others were hoping that their car would be their wingman for the night. "[I'm] coming down to see the Corvettes and the nice ladies roaming around! They just come looking for that car."
Still others credit events like Hot Summer Nights as reasons to love the community. "We came here for [my husband's job] and we have absolutely fallen in love with Sioux Falls. The people here are so incredible, it's a lot of fun, and downtown is just a hidden gem."
