Celebrate the 4th of July with street construction

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO-AM) -- There's some major road construction starting before and after the 4th of July.

Beginning on Wednesday, July 5, construction on South Third Avenue will continue from south of 14th Street to the Ellis and Eastern Railroad tracks. This area will be closed to all traffic. The outside lane of eastbound 14th Street will also be closed at the intersection of Third Avenue for construction activities. Work will include surface removal, watermain and sanitary sewer replacement, spot curb and gutter repair, and pedestrian ramp improvements.

This work is anticipated to be complete in August 2017.

Beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, the southernmost eastbound lane of West 41st Street will be closed from approximately 750 feet east of Sertoma Avenue for 200 feet.

Mike Lynde will be replacing an approach.

This work is anticipated to be complete by the 4:00 p.m. on July 7, 2017.
