Sioux Falls, S.D. (KELO AM) - The Sioux Falls Development Foundation has a message to anyone who may have moved away to begin their career in another state recently.
This isn't the same town you left behind, and we want you back.
Back to SoDak, a new initiate launched by the Foundation, aims to tout the recent changes to the area in addition to a business and family friendly economic environment to lure young professionals back to the area, beginning with JazzFest this July. "For them to get a good look at how Sioux Falls has changed in the last 2-5 years, we just may get some of them to decide to relocate," said Lon Clemensen with the Development Foundation. He adds that the pull of family already located in Sioux Falls combined with a spotlight on new businesses and entertainment options could also help.
Those attending JazzFest as part of the Back To SoDak program will have access to special food vendors and samples of local beers from Fernson. A brunch will also be held at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center on Saturday, July 15, with special gift bags for attendees featuring "Explore Sioux Falls" coupon books, t-shirts and surprise gifts.
Clemesen says the location of Saturday's brunch is no mistake. "We're going to be on the floor of the Denny, an impressive venue for them to look around. Show them some of the concerts we've had in Sioux Falls." Development Foundation representatives will also be at each table to tout some of the jobs currently available at various companies in town.
Registration for Back To SoDak can be made online by clicking here. Clemesen says they're preparing for between 50-75 participants.
