Not one, but four anti-corruption amendments

PIERRE, S.D. (KELO AM) South Dakota voters next November may have four separate versions to choose from of a proposed constitutional amendment for campaign finance and lobbying reform.

State Attorney General Marty Jackley has provided explanations for each of the four versions, and warns that each would likely be challenged on constitutional grounds, if approved by the voters.

Now supporters must gather enough signature petitions to get the four versions on the ballot. Each is called the South Dakota Voter Protection and Anti-Corruption Amendment. All four versions would create an independent government accountability board.

The proposed amendments are more fully explained in the PDF document at above this story.

This is continuing fallout from the IM 22 controversy, the ballot measure approved by voters, but repealed by a Republican-controlled State Legislature concerned over constitutional issues.
