AT LAKE KAMPESKA, SOUTH DAKOTA (KELO AM) The yearly Mayfly hatch at Lake Kampeska is always impressive, but this year, observers say it was really over the top.
As you approached the lake near Watertown this weekend, you might have thought it looked like dust raised by driving a gravel road, but it was Mayflies as thick as, well, flies! Some said it was the thickest hatch they'd ever seen.
As seagulls and fish feasted, campers and lakefront residents swatted.
Taking a deep breath wasn't recommended.
