WASHINGTON, D.C. (KELO-AM) -- Members of the South Dakota Congressional delegation have been quick to offer good wishes in the aftermath of Wednesday morning's shooting of U.S. House of Representative Whip Steve Scalise and others at a baseball practice in northern Virginia.
Senator John Thune's office released a statement soon after the shooting rampage:
“My thoughts and prayers are with Steve and his family and with everyone else who was injured this morning in what can only be described as a senseless act of violence. What should have been a fun morning spent with friends and colleagues quickly turned into a chaotic scene that ended with bravery and heroism. While details are still emerging, one thing is clear – the men and women of the U.S. Capitol Police are the best of the best, and the entire Capitol Hill community is thankful to be protected by them day in and day out.” said Thune.
"Praying for everyone who was injured this morning in Alexandria," Sen. Thune tweeted. "Thankful, as always, for the U.S. Capitol Police and all they do."
"Praying for @SteveScalise, @CapitolPolice, aides & any others who may have been hurt this morning," Sen. Mike Rounds (R-S.D.) tweeted.
"Praying for my friend @SteveScalise, his family & all injured by shooter in Virginia today," tweeted Rep. Kristi Noem (R-S.D.) "Grateful for the fast work of 1st responders."
