WASHINGTON, D.C. (KELO-AM) -- As part of the proposed health care reform under consideration in Congress, federal Medicaid spending would be cut more than eight hundred billion dollars over ten years.
There is concern on what that would mean to nursing home in rural states like South Dakota.
Congresswoman Kristi Noem says states will get Medicaid block grants, which governors can direct.
Noem says the new Medicaid formula should help protect elder care.
While the House has passed the American Health Care Act, the Senate is writing its own version.
