UPDATE - (Sunday, June 11, 2017 2:54 p.m. - Rick Williams) - We're now getting more information on what led up to a Watertown teenager being shot in the chest and killed Saturday night.
Law Enforcement held a press conference this afternoon with further details on the shooting of 17 year old Jayden Harley. Assistant Police Chief Tim Toomey called the incident "a senseless act of violence that should not have happened".
The incident, on the 200 block of 4th Avenue Southwest, started as a noise complaint, but quickly escalated. The report says the two did not know each other previously. Harley had just graduated from high school.
Watertown Police say the suspect has a prior record, but did not disclose any details. Bond was set at 50 thousand dollars cash only.
Toomey says a dispatcher was on the line during the verbal arguement and heard the situation escalate. He says investigators are still working in the neighborhood.
